A perfect soup matching or an easy snack, this healthy cheese toast recipe features fresh tomatoes, salty Cheddar cheese, and cracked pepper atop slices of crusty bread.
All you need just four simple ingredients and your delectable toast is ready! Tomatoes and cheese pair very well in any recipe.You can get creative and add some fresh basil or even spread some tomato sauce over the bread if you like.
Ingredients
- Slices of whole wheat bread
- 2 small slices of tomato
- 1 ½ tablespoon shredded Cheddar cheese (1/2 ounce)
- Pinch of cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Set the 6 slices of bread in a baking tray. Organize the slices of cheese over the bread followed by the tomato slices. Top with cheddar cheese too.
- Set the toasts under the broiler of 6-7 minutes. Keep in mind to look closely after 5 minutes to make sure they don’t burn. They turn very quickly.
- Drizzle with fresh herbs and pepper flakes if using.
